Any Monty Python fans out there?

I love the parts of the show where they take antique images and then make them talk. So, when I had the idea to crop one of the sentiments from Guy Greetings into a word bubble and put them onto the strong man's head, it cracked me up. I laughed so hard I almost couldn't finish making the card -- I was coughing and wheezing.

Sadly, no one else seems to find this as hilarious as I do.

Oh well.

This monochromatic birthday card uses Midnight Muse instead of Espresso, but still manages to carry an antiqued vibe. The background paper is stamped to be perfect for my brother's birthday. I like the way this set lets you customize greetings for lots of the guys in your life.

I also like the talk bubble. HAAAAA!

Moon Lake Card

Card with stamped envelope
Today's card is an idea I CASED (copy and share everything) from a Leadership Swap I received from Anoli Ilona.  The original card uses the Moon Lake stamp set from the Occasions Catalog and the SAB Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP.  For this card, I used some retired Presto Patterns DSP that I had since I was still waiting for my Stampin' Up! order with the SAB DSP in it.  The color combo is Lost Lagoon, Hello Honey and Whisper White.  I love how simple and classy it looks put altogether!  It is so simple to create that all you have to do is stamp an image (the boat and tree, the bird or the loon in the water) and stamp the greeting from the same set in Lost Lagoon on Whisper White card stock.  Sponge a piece of the Irresistibly Yours Speciality DSP using Hello Honey and Lost Lagoon then wipe with a tissue afterwards to allow the white embossed part of the DSP to shine through.  Adhere all the layers on top of a Hello Honey layer and then onto a Lost Lagoon card base and you're almost done.  Add some Hello Honey ribbon from the SAB Best Year Ever Accessory Pack around a little piece of Lost Lagoon card stock and adhere on top of where the Whisper White layer and the DSP meet.  So simple and gives the card a real "WOW!" factor.
This card used retired Presto Patterns DSP.
Want to make your own quick and easy card to share with friends and loved ones?  Order some of the SAB Irresistibly Yours Specialty DSP and the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack before March 31st when Sale-A-Bration ends!  Have fun!

Sympathy in neutral

Inked woodgrain embossing folder in a sympathy card

My March stamp class will focus on the beautiful neutrals in the Stampin' Up! palette. I'm having fun finding great designs and reworking them -- like this one!

I'm CASEing this card from Pinterest. I loved the embossed and inked background, and wanted to adapt it to stamps I have. To create the texture, you ink the embossing folder and then emboss. Pretty!

When it came to the tag, I realized I had no great sympathy sentiments that would fit into the space --  My Digital Studio to the rescue! I downloaded the Thanks for Caring digital set, scaled it down, swapped to Espresso, and copied it multiple times onto one page (so that I'll have plenty for the ladies at my class). Then I printed them onto a sheet of Crumb Cake and punched out one for my card. Perfect! There are a ton of retired sets still available for download -- including So Sorry, a favorite of my customers.

  • Crazy about You (2015 Occasions catalog)
  • Work of Art (retired; there's a similar paint swatch in the current Perpetual Birthday Calendar set)

Lotus Blossom Card

Today's card is my final Leadership Swap Card I have to share with all of you. This card came together quickly since the Lotus Blossom stamp set is so easy to use. Even if you don't stamp it perfect, the lotus flower image stills comes out nicely.
Close up of card and gold dotted washi tape
For this card, I stamped the lotus image twice in Crisp Cantaloupe for the first image and Crisp Cantaloupe stamped off once for the second image on Very Vanilla cardstock. I stamped the third lotus image in Calypso Coral which paired with Crisp Cantaloupe perfectly. I stamped the stems in Pistachio Pudding. I added the greeting from the stamp set in Calypso Coral and punched it out using the Large Oval Punch. I punched out Pistachio Pudding cardstock using the Decorative Label Punch and added it behind the large oval layer.  I added a little bit of Watercolor Wonder Washi tape to the bottom of the Very Vanilla layer then adhered it to a layer of the Best Year Ever (SAB) DSP. Finally I layered everything onto a Crisp Cantaloupe card base.

Hello Honey and You Brighten My Day CAS card

Celebrate Today Friend Card

Card Closed
Card Opened
Today's card is one I created for Leadership Conference to swap with other demonstrators. I had the idea for this card on my mind for a few days. I knew that I wanted the balloon to look like a bunch of balloons once you opened the card. I just had to figure out how to execute my design with the card layout I had chosen. When it finally came together, I was thrilled with the end product and hope you are too.

To create this card, cut and score the card stock like you normally would (4 -/2" x 11" and score at 5 1/2"). Add an additional score line to one of the sides of your card at 2 3/4". Then fold that part of your card base back and add some DSP. I stamped the balloons in Calypso Coral and Hello Honey on the inside of my card making sure that they went off the card stock a bit so they didn't overlap. You could overlap the balloons but you would need to do a bit of masking to make it look nice.

After stamping the balloons inside the top of the card base, I stamped "birthday" in Coastal Cabana inside the Hello Honey balloon. Next, I stamped one balloon in Coastal Cabana on the same color card stock and cut it out using the Balloon Framelits. I attached it with some dimensionals on the top of my card base so that when I opened up the card you could see a balloon bunch. Last I stamped the greeting "to a great friend" in Calypso Coral and the tassel for the bottom of my balloon in Coastal Cabana on a Whisper White layer. I added some gray Washi tape then attached the layer to the Whisper White card base.

Now it's your turn to give this fun card a try!

Best sister ever

CAS birthday card using Stampin' Up! Best Day Ever

This card is a rework of one in the sale-a-bration catalog. When I saw this set, I needed it to be MINE. It sounds (and looks) just like me talking -- brash and bold and cheery.

I'm still working on that DSP stash -- this paper is the same one I used in the balloon birthday card last week, but it looks totally different as a big background.

"What day is the best day ever?" you're probably wondering. The inside of the card says "Was the day I got you as a sister." I gave it to my sister yesterday, for her birthday. Awwww!

Baker's service announcement: Want this stamp to be yours? It's available for just a few more weeks FREE when you make a $50 order. Don't miss the date -- March 30 is the very last day for this special.

Stamp sets

  • Best Day Ever (2015 Sale-A-Bration catalog)

  • Daffodil Delight base
  • Watercolor Wonder DSP (retired, alas, but the Best Year Ever DSP in this year's SAB catalog would work beautifully) cut to 5 1/4" by 4"
  • Whisper White scrap for the tag and flower

  • Tangerine Tango
  • Island Indigo

Tools and accessories

  • Angled tag topper punch
  • Dimensionals, glue dots

Sheltering Tree

stampin up sheltering tree, thank you card, handmade

I have to warn you right now. I love this stamp set, and you are going to see a lot of it. The images are beautiful. The font is lovely. The bike! I love that the bike frame is a separate stamp! You don't have to bust out the markers, people!

This set is so pretty, you can make a sweet little outdoor scene and you don't even have to add much else to the card. The set also comes with a swing and a rake you could lean against the tree. There are little flowers and snowflakes so that you could easily make a card that fit any season for just about any reason.

You need this stamp set.

i seriously LOVE you Card

Today's card would be a great Valentine's card or an anniversary card.  The best part of the card is how quick and easy it is to create.  Start with Whisper White card stock and Basic Black card stock cut out using the Hearts Collection Framelits.  Stamp a greeting on the Whisper White heart using Real Red ink and adhere it to the Basic Black heart.  Cut DSP strips into banners at one end and adhere to the 4” x 5 ¼” Whisper White card stock layer.  Add glimmer paper - silver and real red hearts to the banners using glue dots or Snail.  Add this layer to the Real Red card base.  Add the heart/greeting layers and some rhinestones.  Now you're done!

A quick and easy card for you to mass produce or make quickly to give to that special someone in your life (mom, sister, brother, father, husband, wife or friend).  Happy Heart Day to you real soon!
