More balloons!

Simple birthday card using balloon framelits

I know, I know. You've seen this set. But it's SO CUTE. I can't stop finding ways to make this little balloon soar!

This week, I'm meeting a promise to myself that I'll use up some of my DSP stash. I have quite a few packets that have about a piece and a half left. I'm sure that's just me. You probably use up all of your paper before you buy more, right? RIGHT.

This paper is from Sale-a-bration last year. It's bright and spring-y and makes just the perfect sky for my rainbow-spotted balloon. I've grounded all that color with some cloudy grey.

The sentiment and balloon this week are done identically to the balloon birthday card from last week, but the background matting makes it into another card entirely. So here's your challenge, if you'd like to play along: Take a card you've already made. Use the same stamping/foreground, but swap out the background layers to create something new. Let me know how it goes!

Stamp sets

  • Celebrate Today

Paper

  • Daffodil Delight base
  • Watercolor Wonder DSP (retired, alas, but the Best Year Ever DSP in this year's SAB catalog would work beautifully) cut to 5 1/2" by 3," plus a 3" square for the balloon
  • Smoky Slate at 5 1/2" by 1" (2x)

Ink

  • Basic Grey

Tools and accessories

  • Balloon framelits
  • Dimensionals
  • Scallop border punch (I used a random one from my stash)
  • If you HAPPEN to goof up the sizing on the scallop pieces, 1/8" taffeta ribbon in Daffodil Delight would cover up the seam nicely. Just saying.
