Shocking, right? Here's a little of the thinking behind this card -- and then I'll show you the first draft.
I knew I wanted to use the Nordic Noel DSP, and had seen a really cute design on Pinterest from Sleepy in Seattle. Joanne's card uses a Soft Sky base, though, and I'm already doing a card at this class in Sky. I don't like to do two of the same color.
I took a quick look at the colors in the DSP and set aside Garden Green (another card I'm planning) and Calypso Coral (can't quite make that a holiday color). Baked Brown Sugar seemed like the perfect gingerbread base for these houses. I then swapped Joanne's sentiment banner for a simpler punched banner, keeping the awesome snowflake.
So, got the base, know I need a little Sky for the sky ... how about a nice white mat on there?

Hmmph. Something just doesn't make you go WOW!, right? I stared and stared at this until I finally went back to something my stamping sensei Deena says: "Use each color three times." The Brown Sugar is in the base, in the DSP, and in the Santa. The red, though? Only in the DSP and the banner.
Swapping the white for the red? WOW.
If I were gonna get REALLY crazy, I could have triple-matted this card with Brown Sugar, Real Red, and then Whisper White, but I decided that was a little much. :-)
Enjoy your weekend stamping!
