#Workofart

I'm a little sorry to admit it, but I like to embrace my middle school sense of humor.  The last couple of card samples from the fabulous Pink Paper Bakers have featured one of the new stamp sets "Work of Art".   I wanted to share my card sample using this set as well.  So, when I tagged my photo, with the words all running together, you can guess what stood out for me.  (Teeheehee)  My brain automatically sees the potty words.  I can't help it.  There's a woman out there on the world wide web with a site address that is something like scrappystamper.  My brain omits that first s.  Sorry scrappystamper, you will always be a crappy stamper to me.

Anyway, this is my Work of Art card, using some new colors and the simple technique of 'stamping off'.

Ingredients:

Paper

  • Whisper White base
  • Whisper White cut to 5" x 3 3/4"
  • Whisper White tag 2" x 3 1/2"

Stamp sets

  • Work of Art
Ink

  • Hello Honey
  • Tangelo Twist
  • Strawberry Slush
  • Bermuda Bay
  • Basic Gray

Accessories:

  • Angled Tag Topper punch
  • Small hole punch
  • Basic Rhinestones
  • Bermuda Bay 1/8' ribbon
  • Dimensionals

A Work of Art Card

I'm in love with the new Work of Art stamp set!  It's so versatile and can be used for a background, focal image or and edge. For this card, I used the color combinations of Blackberry Bliss, Hello Honey and Sahara Sand.  I added a strip of the new Moonlight DSP Stack with the same colors at the bottom of the Whisper White layer. I also distressed the edges of the Whisper White layer before adding it to the Blackberry Bliss layer then added it to the Hello Honey card base. As a final touch, I added some of the new Blackberry Bliss ribbon tied into a bow.

Blended Bloom Card

Today's card uses Stampin' Up!'s new Blendabilities - exclusive alcohol-based marker sets that come in a 3-pack of light, medium and dark shades (of the same color) and provide your projects a more saturated look with blended colors.  These markers make me feel like the artist I know that I'm not.  I used the new Daffodil Delight and Rich Razzleberry Blendabilities on the Blended Bloom stamp image.  After playing with the new Blendabilities a bit, I decided to color in most of the flower with the lightest shade of Daffodil Delight first then add the medium and dark shades where I felt they would look best.  Then, I added the Rich Razzleberry shades in the middle of the flower.  My card layout was a simple one of Whisper White layered on top of Rich Razzleberry card stock and all layered on top of a Daffodil Delight card base.  I added the "happy birthday" greeting in black, some (retired) black satin ribbon and two Rich Razzleberry Candy Dots to my card before adding the colored Blended Bloom stamped image which I hand cut and added with dimensionals.

I hope you will give these new Blendabilities markers a try today.  They will make the inner artist in you come out and you will have lots of fun!

For the chic bride

Wedding card using Love and Laughter

My friend Erika wanted some ideas for wedding cards, using her Love and Laughter set. We had a fun evening playing with ink and paper and glue (and eating the amazing brownies she brought over!).

This bridal card started with just the dress embossed on grey. We tried some different combinations before deciding we liked the elegance of the embossing with the chic fun of the silver dotted vellum.

Elegant and easy!

Ingredients

Paper

  • Smoky Slate base and embossed center focal (just trim around the image)
  • Fancy Foil Designer Vellum in silver, at 5 1/4" x 4"

Stamp sets

  • Love and Laughter (retired)
Ink

  • Versamark

Accessories:

  • White embossing powder
  • Heat tool
  • Glue dots
  • Dimensionals

Swallowtail and Daydream Medallions Card

The "a friend accepts us as we are yet helps us to be what we should" greeting seemed perfect for this card. I wanted a greeting or saying that symbolized the little butterfly becoming a big butterfly and this one was perfect for it. I chose to use the Daydream Medallions stamp set in Daffodil Delight and Coastal Cabana to set a light but bright tone to the card. I also used Soft Suede to stamp my butterflies before using a blender pen to add color to them. The Daffodil Delight bow on the front of the card was by pure accident. I slightly rocked my larger Daydream Medallion stamp by accident and didn't want to start over so I played around with a few options and found the bow to fit just right over my mistake. I think it adds a little bit of detail to the card as well.
For the inside of the card, I stamped a butterfly from the Swallowtail stamp set in Soft Suede in the middle of my card. I stamped it again on a separate piece of card stock to hand cut. I added some color with blender pens on both the large butterfly inside the card and the large hand cut butterfly. I tried to alternate where I added my color to add more dimension to the inside of the card. All of my butterflies (large and small) were added with dimensionals to give them dimension and to make them the focus of the card.
I originally saw a card similar to this somewhere in blog land but have not been able to find it again. If it is similar to your original card, please let me know so I can give you the credit for the original design idea.

Ingredients:
Stamp Sets: Daydream Medallions, Feels Good, Four You, Papillon Potpourri, and Swallowtail
Ink: Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede
Paper: Very Vanilla card base and extra for hand cut and punched butterflies
Accessories: Elegant Butterfly punch, 1/8" Daffodil Delight Ribbon, Blender Pens, and Stampin Dimensionals

Father's day? It's a tie

It's a tie -- using Baby's First Framelits

This card design is a CASE of one I found on Pinterest. It took a little while for me to track down the source (from the watermark on the photo!), but you can see Linda's gorgeous original here. I used the new Baby's First framelits set for the ties (and a hanger I swiped from one of my daughter's craft kits but you could sub in the hanger from the framelit set, too).

So cute!

Ingredients

Paper

  • Not Quite Navy (retired) base
  • Cherry Cobbler at 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Whisper White at 3 /12" x 5"
  • Nautical Expedition DSP (retired) scraps  -- the new Maritime DSP would be great for this card!

Ink

  • None!
Stamp sets

  • None!

Accessories:

  • Circle Framelits (this is a 2" circle) -- cut the circle and pierce before you matte the DSP behind
  • Baby's First Framelits
  • Piercing Essentials kit, Mat, and Tool
  • Glue dots
  • Dimensionals
  • Mini hanger swiped from my kid :-)

Pomp and Circumstance

I have to be honest with you, I haven't been stamping at all lately.  This is not a good thing, especially with that brand new catalog that came out earlier this week.  Last night, I had to sit down and make a card for a high school graduation party tonight, so no more slacking!

I got out my embossing supplies and the now retired Pomp and Circumstance set.  I am going to do a little trimming on that black ribbon, just have to go to the bank and replace that $1 bill you see in the picture with something a little more generous!

Ingredients

Paper

  • Smoky Slate base
  • Basic Black 3 3/4" x 5"
  • Whisper White 3 5/8" x 4 7/8"

Ink

  • Versa Mark
Stamp sets

  • Pomp and Circumstance (retired)

Accessories:

  • 1/8" Black ribbon
  • Dimensionals
  • Heat tool
  • Pewter Embossing Powder
  • Embossing Buddy
  • Moola!
