I found these old windows out by the curb in a friend's neighborhood. I have been an upcycler since before it became stylish, mostly because I just can't stand waste. I knew I could find some use for these beauties! I started cranking out Autumn Accents Bigz leaves on my Big Shot, and then decided you can never go wrong with a banner.
I cut rectangles of burlap into banner shapes and used hot glue to fasten them to some retired rope from several holiday catalogs back. I used some Designer Series Paper and card stock in Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Pool Party and punched 1" circles. The letters are from the Typeset Alphabet Bigz die, and they are Chocolate Chip card stock.
My "fall" blocks were a thrift store find from awhile back, I "borrowed" them from my kids' block box, and gave them a quick turquoise paint wash with a pint of leftover paint, but it was a little too dark. I added a couple of drops of whisper white craft ink refill to each block and rubbed it over the turquoise and it lightened the color just enough for my taste.
I went back to my leaf cut outs, ran them through some embossing folders, and tied them with a bow of linen thread. A little glue dot here and there, and I've got a good start to my fall decorating.
Not to rush our last official weekend of summer or anything, but here's to autumn! Happy Holiday weekend!
