Up, Up & Away...

Clouds are awesome! Growing up in sunny San Diego, you don't get to see too many of those. I guess the clear blue skies aren't anything to complain about! Now that I live in North Carolina, I get to admire clouds often, even on sunny days!

I am totally enjoying the Cloudy Day embossing folder! I used it several times with the Ronald McDonald House charity stamp set, Moving Forward, and it's also perfect for Up, Up & Away; the stamp set I used here.

Up, Up & Away is a hot air balloon set, that I altered to look like party balloons. I used the matching Stampin' Write Markers to draw a little triangle at the bottom of the hot air balloon image, before cutting it out.

Next I adhered the Whisper White Baker's Twine onto the backside of the balloons, and placed the balloons on the card stock with Dimensionals. I secured the Baker's Twine with one glue dot, and tied a bow with a seperate piece and adhered it right on top with another glue dot.

You Are Loved and Valentine's Day Cards

I originally made this Valentine's Day Card for a card swap at Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference earlier this month.  When I shared this card with my Stamping Club recently, I showed them a way to change it up by using the "happy Valentine's day" stamp in the You Are Loved stamp set, the First Edition Specialty DSP and taking away the ribbon behind the Crumb Cake greeting layer.
My challenge to you: Find a card layout that you love but change out one or two things from the card when you CASE (copy and share everything) it.  Please leave a comment below to let us know where we can find your CASEd card.  We would love to see what you cook up in your stamping kitchen (or craft room)!

Magnificent Monday

Magnificent Monday Guest: Salina Kohut!

I’m thrilled to be invited back as a guest “baker.” I hope you enjoy the creation I’ve whipped up for you. Deena recently showed me a Valentine’s Day banner she made, and it inspired me to design one of my own using new products from the Spring Catalog. As soon as I saw the Tea Lace doilies, I knew I had to make a flower with them. It made the perfect centerpiece for my banner. I adore the More Amore paper, and I will have fun incorporating it into my projects long after Valentine’s Day.

Ingredients:

Primrose Petals Classic Ink
Real Red Classic Ink
Real Red Cardstock
Pool Party Cardstock

Simple gifts

I have a friend who is a little hard to find gifts for. She lives very simply, and doesn't wear jewelry, eat sugar, or want "things." So, I made her a personalized gift that she can give away!

Ingredients:
  • Paper:
    • Crumb Cake
  • Ink:
    • Crumb Cake
    • Cajun Craze
    • Lucky Limeade (what am I going to DO when this retires in June?)
    • Early Espresso
  • Stamp sets
    • Lovely Letters
    • French Foliage
I made a little topper to match and slid the tags, plus some coordinating ribbon, into a glassine envelope. Such a cute gift, and I know my friend will enjoy having her very own tags to put on the gifts she gives this year.

Making small gifts is one of the great joys of stamping for me. How about for you? Enjoy whatever you cook up!

Vintage Verses

Vintage style cards are the rage right now, and Vintage Verses, from the Sale-a-Bration catalog is a sentiment stamp set that will go with any vintage looking stamp sets, or it looks great on its own! The bonus is, this stamp set is FREE with a minimum of $50 order!

This patterned paper is from Print Poetry. This is one of my favorite patterns from the 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" paper stack. I love that this paper stack is full of masculine and feminine prints.

I stamped the sentiment with Early Espresso onto Very Vanilla card stock, and then I centered it in a framelit from the Labels Collection and ran it through the Big Shot. I LOVE these framelits!

I finished off the card with 1/8" Espresso Taffeta ribbon and a button from the Designer Neutrals Collection.

A few Stampin' Dimensionals help to make the sentiment the focal point.

Ingredients:
  • Stamps: Vintage Verses
  • Paper:
    • Very Vanilla card stock - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2"
    • Early Espresso card stock - 3 3/8" x 4 5/8"

Thanks So Much and Oh, Hello Cards

For this card, I took an idea from the new Spring Catalog (click here to see the new spring catalog) and changed it up a bit.  I'm not much of a girly girl so I didn't add all the frills (flower trim or the creped filter paper).  I love how you can make multiple of these cards and use them for different occasions.  I made a few different ones to have on hand when I need them.  Find a card you like in the new Spring Catalog and make it yours today.  We would love to see what you come up with!

Magnificent Monday

Magnificent Monday Guest: Cristena Bagne!

I am so super excited that I was asked by Jenny Wood of the Paper Bakery to be a guest on the site. Talk about a total and complete honor! I wasn’t really sure what I was going to make. However, my daughter, Meadow, came to me and asked for a new night light for her room. I took her to Ikea (our favorite place for inspiration besides Pier 1 Imports) to take a look around. She said she didn’t like any of them, but maybe I could make it pretty… or from her it was “I know you could make one of these pretty mommy!”. Now just how exactly am I supposed to refuse that? I can never refuse her.

We got the lamp at Ikea for $4.99 I came home and got out the new Tea Time Designer Series paper from Stampin’ Up!’s new Spring Catalog (love it!). Meadow loves the paper too so I knew this would look great! Grabbed my Big Shot, the Fun Flowers Die, some hot glue sticks and a hot glue gun! I was off! Started running all the paper through the big shot ( I have some left over flowers) and started to hot glue them all together. I started at the top and just kept adding and when the row was finished I just moved down and started a new row. It took 32 flowers to completely cover the lamp shade.

Yes she loves the lamp! She says “momma, you need to hurry up and finish taking pictures so I can put it in my room”

Thanks for sharing with us, Cristena!

Wishes Your Way

The Cloudy Day Textured Impressions Embossing Folder is one of the cutest items offered in the new Stampin'UP! mini catalog and The Wishes Your Way greeting set also caught my eye when I got my first glance at the catalog.  I like a greeting that has a birthday message, but isn't just a plain old happy birthday.

I decided to create a little kite using my 1 3/8" square punch, and I think it came out pretty good!

First, punch out your squares in coordinating designer paper or card stock, and cut them in half diagonally.

Wake up the geometry lobe of your brain and twist those four triangles around a little.  I put a dab of tombow glue on the corners of the kite that overlapped, and trimmed it back into the shape of a diamond.

Recipe:
  • Island Indigo card base
  • Whisper White card stock cut to 3" by 5 1/4"
  • Daffodil Delight card stock cut to 1/2" by 5 1/4"
  • Real Red card stock
  • Summer Smooches DSP
  • Wishes Your Way stamp set
  • Island Indigo ink pad
  • Cloudy Day impressions folder
  • Dimensionals on the kite

Moving Forward

Stampin' Up! is a company that always takes pride in making a difference. Each year they design an exclusive stamp set that benefits the Ronald McDonald House Charity. Moving Forward is one of those sets. With each Moving Forward stamp set that sells, Stampin' Up! donates $3 to the Ronald McDonald House Charity, in addition to the $100,000 annual gift.

I love the playful images of this stamp set. They just happen to go well with the Cloudy Day embossing folder I recently purchased from the Spring Mini catalog! I think this card makes a great baby boy card, or even a first birthday card.

I popped up both the circle and the waves with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Materials:
  • Stamp set: Moving Forward
  • Paper:
    • Pacific Point card stock - 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", and 1" x 4 3/4" (to be punched)

Pinwheel Sizzlits S Die Cards

Last week I had the pleasure of attending Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference in Orlando, Florida.  It's a time for demonstrators to come together and share their ideas and learn more about growing their business.  I love getting together with other demonstrators since it fuels my excitement and motivation for a wonderful company, Stampin' Up!.  If you're interested in learning more about the opportunity to become a demonstrator, please contact any one of us.

During Stampin' Up! events, we get the opportunity to swap cards with each other.  You can make as few or as many cards as you would like.  It's always fun to swap your card with others and see all the new ideas other demonstrators have.  It was so much fun and after swapping my pinwheel cards with a few demonstrators, I kept running into some of the same demonstrators that started calling me "the pinwheel lady."  It always made me laugh and made it easier to make friends along the way.

Here are two of the cards I created for swaps at Leadership:

Island Indigo & Pool Party Pinwheel Card

Tangerine Tango & Whisper White Pinwheel Card

Both used the Pinwheel Sizzlits S die and the "Wishes Your Way" stamp set.

Tips for using the Pinwheel Sizzlits S die:
  • it's easiest to cut only one layer of DSP or card stock at a time; this allows you to see the creases to punch the pinwheels out of the paper easier and to see the tiny holes to poke the brads through
  • push the brads through the middle of the pinwheel and then poke the brads through each tiny hole of the pinwheels and onto the same brad
  • attach pinwheel straight to the card through an already paper punched hole or attach to the card with dimensionals
Close up of pinwheels and Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions
Ingredients:
Pinwheel Sizzlits S die #129411
Sycamore Street DSP for pinwheels (sneak peek of an upcoming Sale-A-Bration item)
Wishes Your Way stamp set #129153 (WM) or #129156 (CM)
Silver Mini Brads #122941
Island Indigo or Tangerine Tango card stock and ink for card bases
Whisper White or Pool Party card stock for card layers
Needlepoint Border Textured Impressions Embossing Folders #129383 for "xxxxxxx" impression coming down from pinwheels on the Island Indigo & Pool Party Pinwheel Card
