A Card Worth Waiting For

Today’s card is a card worth receiving and waiting for.  It isn’t very labor intensive but requires some patience in the drying time.   BTW, patience is not one of my best virtues but I’m working on it.  I started with an unusual color combination taken straight from the new Festival of Prints DSP pack – Cherry Cobbler, Island Indigo, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.  I started with a simple layout and added some sparkle with Champagne Shimmer Paint spritzed on the flowers.
Follow these steps to make your own card worth waiting for:
  1. Add 2 DSP layers of varying sizes to a Crumb Cake card base.
  2. add DSP layers and Doily
  3. Add a Very Vanilla doily cut from the Delicate Doilies Sizzlit die.  This can either be centered on your card or positioned to the left side of the card on top of the DSP layers
  4. Add shimmery flower held together with an Antique Brad.
  • To create flower, punch 2 Cherry Cobbler and 1 Island Indigo flowers with the Fancy Flower punch.  Spray flowers with water to make them pliable.

  •  Shape and form the flower however you would like.  I rolled the edges of 2 flowers down and then pinched the edges of 1 flower together in an upwards direction to give some dimension to my flower.

  • Let the flowers dry (30-60 mins.) and then attach them together using an Antique Brad (alternating colors).

  • Spritz the flowers with a mixture of Champagne Shimmer Paint and rubbing alcohol (mix these items together in an old Stamping’ Mist bottle or use the new Stamping’ Misters).  You can spritz the flowers with this mixture before putting them together or after they have dried.
Spritzed before putting them together (this is an option)
  •  Let shimmery flowers dry (I let mine dry overnight just in case).  Attach to your completed card using dimensional (stack 2 dimensional on top of each other to allow your flower petals to not be mushed down).
My new favorite layout!
Wouldn’t you love to receive a card like this?  It is so simple to make, takes a bit of patience with the drying time but is definitely a card worth waiting for in my opinion.  Enjoy!
