To Be As Crafty As My Mother

I always wanted to be as crafty as my talented mother but that gene missed me.  The sewing craft gene that is.  My mother has made quilts, clothes, my prom dresses, my wedding reception tablecloths and even all of my bridesmaid dresses.  She is able to follow a pattern and use her experience to make changes to the pattern when needed.  I have loved her sewing projects throughout my life and now have fallen in love with her newest sewing project.  My mother is creating 3 matching quilts for her two sisters and herself.  The coolest thing about the quilts is that my mom is integrating pieces of fabric from her mother's previous shirts.  This way each of her sisters and herself will always have a piece of their mother with them now that she is in a nicer place.

So to complete her newest sewing project my mother has used the Dresden Designs Bigz L Die.  Before Stampin' Up! introduced this new Big Shot die, she was tracing and cutting out her quilt pieces by hand which was extremely time consuming.  Now that she uses the Dresden Designs Die instead she has almost completely cut out all the pieces for her quilts and is ready to begin sewing the quilts.  Stampin' Up! hit the mark for sewing crafters on this die.  Of course, my mother is already excited to see what other Big Shot dies Stampin' Up! comes out with in the new catalog.  June 1st just can't come fast enough for her crafting needs!

Even though I forgot to get pictures of the quilt pieces she is working on when we visited for Easter (sorry...mommy brain was at work this weekend), I wanted to share some sewing ideas using the Dresden Designs Bigz L Die.  These ideas came from Stampin' Up!'s Leadership Conference in January of this year shortly after the Occasions Mini Catalog debuted.  Here are a few pictures of the projects that I shared with my mother and now all of you sewing crafters out there.  Enjoy!

I love this pillow!  It's too cute and I could really see it in a girl's room.
