Achieving the Vintage Look

The Vintage look is all over the paper crafting world lately.  So I thought I would give it a try by changing up a card I had seen in Stampin' Up!'s Stampin' Success magazine.

I started with a 7" x 6 1/4" piece of Very Vanilla card stock scored at 3 1/2".  Using the Fresh Vintage stamp set, I stamped the various flower images in Lucky Limeade, Pool Party and Calypso Coral.  To achieve the "vintage" look, I stamped off once before stamping onto my Very Vanilla card base.  This lightens or mutes the colors a bit.  To achieve more of the "vintage" look, I used the Tea Stain Vintage Ink around the edges of the card.  It helps give the card base an older worn look.  Next I used the Lucky Limeade Organdy Ribbon to wrap a few times around a 2" x 5 1/4" piece of Everyday Enchantment DSP.  I attached the DSP to the card base after tea staining the edges of the DSP.  I stamped off once before stamping the "Hello" greeting from the Elementary Elegance stamp set in Calypso Coral onto a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock.  I wanted a different look to my card so I used the Decorative Label punch to punch out the Hello greeting and tea stained the edges.  I only punched out about half way down the Decorative Label punch so I could add the greeting under the Lucky Limeade Organdy ribbon.  Finally, I stamped on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla card stock one of the flower images in Pool Party after stamping off once and tea stained the edges to give my card more of that worn, vintage look. I cut around this image by hand and layered it on top of a piece of Calypso Coral card stock punched out by using the Blossom Bouquet punch.  To add a bit of color to this flower image, I pierced a Calypso Coral brad from the Everyday Enchantment Ribbon & Brad Pack through the middle of the flower images stacked on top of each other.  Before attaching this piece to your card with dimensionals, use your bone folder to flip up the edges of both the Pool Party and the Calypso Coral flowers.
